Sail & Bike 2 - Mare fan Fryslân
|Ship||Mare fan Fryslan|
|Capacity||26 (nog 2 beschikbaar)|
Discover amazing Dutch highlights by boat and by bike. You'll discover both the IJsselmeer and the Wadden Sea - a UNESCO World Heritage. It doesn't get any more Dutch!
During this active cruise aboard the Mare fan Fryslân - a comfortable two-masted schooner - you'll visit the IJsselmeercoast as well as several Wadden Sea Islands. During the days, the program features an individual bike tour, a stretch of sailing to the next port or both. On board, there is plenty opportunity to relax as well - there's a very comforatble bar /lounge, a large diningroom, seating and even a jacuzzi on deck and not to mention your very comfortable cabin.
The trip will start and end in Enkhuizen, near the trainstation. The exact route depends on the weather, but the following is aimed for:
Day 1: Enkhuizen
Boarding between 16:00 and 18:00. The ship is in walking distance from the trainstation near the historic city centre in Enkhuizen. After checking in, you'll have the opportunity for a walk in Enkhuizen.
Day 2: Den Oever
You'll start your adventurous cruise with a cycling trip from Enkhuizen to Den Oever. The recommended route takes you along the dike where you'll have a stunning view over the IJsselmeer on your right and the Dutch Polders on your left. A stop in Medemblik - with the famous Medemblik Castle - is definately worth wile. After all guests have arrived on the ship, you might even set sail for the Island of Texel. A total of 40km of cycling.
Day 3: Texel
The ship will stay in Oudeschild - Texels fishervillage - today, so you'll have all day to discover the versitile Island. Texel features over 25km of beaches, a vast network of dedicated bicycleroads. Today, you can go your own way, but the crew can advise you on the different possible routes and excursions: the Ecomare Sealife Shelter Visitor Centre or the traditional beer brewery for instance.
Day 4: Terschelling
We'll try to reach Terschelling und sail - a breathtaking trip across the Wadden Sea. When we're Lucky and the tide is favorable, we'll be able to spot a group of seals sunbathing on a sandbank. You'll have the opportunity to sail the ship together with the crew, so you can still have an active day if you wish to. In the late afternoon, the ship will make port in Terschelling - another Wadden Island.
Day 5: Terschelling
Discover Terschelling any way you see fit. Terschelling features over 30km beaches, a wide variety of gastronomic beach pavilions, several nature reserves with unique birdspecies and, like the other Wadden Islands, a vast network of mostly dedicated bicycleroads. You'll not be bored for sure!
Day 6: Vlieland
It depends on the weather and the tide whether we can sail to Vlieland, or we need to set sail for Harlingen or Makkum on the Mainland. The harbour of Vlieland is tricky to enter (tricky, but not dangerous!) and only reachable in favourable conditions. Vlieland is very much worth the try though, with far less visitors and only a handfull of cars on the Island it is very suited for bicyclists. Don't forget the climb the highest dune - the Vuurboetsduin - for a breathtaking view of the Wadden Sea.
Day 7: Enkhuizen
Depending on the weather, you'll have the opportunity for a short ride before setting sail to Enkhuizen. Another versitile day of sailing featuring the Wadden Sea, the IJsselmeer and the locks connecting them (they'll even shut down a highway for some minutes in order to open the bridge to let the ship pass!).
Day 8: Enkhuizen
After breakfast you will check out.
